I had decent hopes for this movie, based upon what I had seen in trailers and the like, reviews both by critics and by the media paint this movie in a vastly different light.
When a “catastrophic seismic event” happens off the coast of California knocking out power, flights are cancelled, everything stops dead. Will is on the phone to his pregnant fiancé Sam when the event occurs on the other side of the country. When he heads back to Sam’s parents house where his father in law Tom decides he’s going to get to his daughter, and Will is going to be coming too.
They encounter violence, fear and friendship on their journey through to California. The country has gone to war with itself, everyone for themselves. Everything that could happen seems to be happening. It gets even mean difficult when Tom gets injured and eventually dies.
The movie is ok, barely. It has so many plot lines that it introduces and does basically nothing with any of it.
There’s a reason it has such poor scores from both IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
