For this weekend since I have been left at home and unsupervised, I am going through 20 MCU movies in the MCU’s chronological order, starting from Captain America: The First Avenger through to Ant-Man & The Wasp.

Enter Tony Stark, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. Son of Howard Stark weapons designer and brilliant designer/mechanic/engineer, and he’s inherited all of it. The movie opens with Tony over in a desert war zone showing off his latest invention the Jericho Missile. On his trip out of the area, his military convoy gets ambushed by the local terrorists using his own weapons who are after his latest invention.

During the ambush he gets injured and has an electromagnet implanted into his chest thats hooked up to a car battery to keep a tiny sliver of shrapnel from entering his heart and killing him. To survive, he is “volunteered” to build a Jericho for them. Instead, he decided to build a miniature Ark Reactor to install in it’s place to keep him mobile and a suit to break him and his fellow prisoner out to safety. But only he makes it out alive.

Continuing on, he gets home and pulls Stark Industries out of the weapons game, only to find out it’s needed more than ever as the attacks by that terrorist organisation continue on, and do so with Stark weapons.  Throughout out we find that he was being betrayed by his own board. Culminating in a battle between the betrayer and Tony, both suited up packing arms.

I actually don’t mind this movie as a standalone one, maybe its the techie side of it that rocks my boat (at least in comparison to the Captain America one) but I do. The other piece that I just cannot get enough of watching is the assembly scenes. You know the ones, they are the ones where the suit gets put on. The time and effort that went into creating those scenes (at least in my opinion) is absolutely worth it, and pays off. Another piece that I love is the little snippets and quips that Tony gives to his robots (especially the random one who (in this movie) has the fire extinguisher.
