Fair notice: I have been super lazy over the last 3-4 weeks (possibly longer) and have not been putting up what I have been watching. I’m trying to rectify that so don’t be surprised if you see an influx of posts over the next few days/weeks.
So I got a bit bored and needed something fairly mindless to watch that I didn’t have to concentrate on. The good cop (played by Will Smith) gets stuck in something bigger than just his little slice of life and finds his world flipped turned upside down.
Doesn’t help that his partner who is an Orc is believed to be the reason the Orc that shot the good cop got away, which of course leads to who heap of racism (and proper racism not the coloury crap we have here). Anyhow, shit quickly gets out of hand when one of the most powerful artefacts in the world shows up in the hands of a youngling, and everyone short of the gods is after the damned thing.
Their journey to the end takes them all over the place, and includes coming across the Orc who was let go by good cop’s partner, getting a bunch of gangsters and thugs killed, not to mention slaying a super powerful elven sorceress.
One thing that did stick out to me is that there was never really a pause between the action scenes. Now I’m not saying it was 120 minutes of constant action, but it was constantly either action, or (and without any subtlety) leading up to what was the next action scene.
Glancing back at my previous viewing I see that I had referenced the TV Show that was going to be made of it, but I haven’t seen or heard anything since then. Though from what I recall it was more a series of within the world rather that the characters familiar to the movie.
