Paddington 2 – 2018

IMDB: Paddington 2 – 2018

IMDB Rating: 7.9/10

Rotten Tomatoes: 100%

Paddington has now thoroughly seethed into his new life with the Browns who have truly made him feel as close to home as they can. But it is coming up to his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, and he wants to get her something…. Perfect. He eventually happens upon a pop up book of London so that even if Aunt Lucy can’t get to London to see it, he can bring it to her. But the book is expensive, very expensive.

So Paddington decides to get a job to pay for it.

However his life of odd jobs lands him in trouble when he spots a thief breaking into Mr Gruber’s store. Naturally he gives chase, but as he is the only one spotted fleeing the scene he instead gets arrested in place of the thief. Now it is up to Paddington and the Browns to catch the real thief before it’s too late.

I enjoyed this movie more than the first one. I feel the cast were more comfortable in their characters this time around, so everything felt more alive this time around. The comedy was stronger and more natural the emotions that the various scenes provoke, cut deeper.

This is a great movie on it’s own, and is one of the few times where the sequel eclipses the original.
