This is the second time that I have seen this (I watched it upon its release last year on Netflix) and I enjoyed this as much as I did then.
The story begins with a lone woman making her way into Dracula’s castle seeking to learn from him the greater sciences, the science that will help her heal unlike the charlatans who prey upon the weak and desperate and don’t deliver on their words. She wants the true science, and convinces Dracula to teach her as she promises to teach him that humans aren’t all bad now.
But on one of Dracula’s journey he comes back to find that the church has taken his wife and burned her at the stake for being a witch. As you can imagine, Dracula takes this news pretty poorly, and threatens to destroy Wallachia in a year in they (the humans) don’t pack up and leave his land. The church however, thinks that it knows best (don’t they always?!?!) and ignore Dracula’s warning, and try to his word, he releases an army of hellish beast upon them to sack them all.
This is a really short season. Only 4 episodes, each apron 25 minutes each, it gets us into the story enough to wet our tastebuds for whats coming up, and then leaves us begging for more.
And damnit, they had better be bringing some more sooner rather than later.
