So I’m travelling at the moment visiting some of the family in law, and as a bit of family bonding the decision was made to go and see the new Peter Rabbit film. Now as you can probably guess by some of my previous reviews (can you believe I have done more than 200 since the start of the year?!? I should do a post regarding some stats of this) that this is not my sort of movie.
Did I enjoy it? To be honest no. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good movie it seemed to be very well written, the flow was good and consistently pulling you along the journey, but it just didn’t do it for me. There were moments of hilarity that cracks my lips into a smile, and others moments that got a small reaction for me, but for a 95 minute feature, the ads at the start got more of a consistent series of reactions from me.
That said the kids in the theatre (I’ll be damned if I didn’t wince when they walked in) seemed to enjoy it with their “whooping and gleeful laughter” throughout the movie in the majority of the scenes where expected.
The other up side was that my partner and their sister really liked the movie, and they would be very familiar with the original stories both being parents, even my nephew (who is in his mid-teens) indicated that he didn’t mind the movie. But in my case, it’s just not my pot of (rabbit) stew.
