The latest in the series of the Pirates of the Caribbean series of movies, this one focusing on the enmity of Captain Salazar against our favourite scandalous pirate Captain Jack Sparrow.
When Sparrow gives up the compass enabling Captain Salazar to escape the Devils triangle that has been holding him prisoner all these years commanding the ship that eats other ships, he makes it his final mission to obliterate every pirate from the face of the planet, and most important of all the one that got him trapped. Jack Sparrow.
Meanwhile a witch and a boy make it their mission to find the trident although for vastly differing reasons. They rope (pardon the pun) Captain Jack into it and begin an epic journey to a land that exists on no map, that is on a map that no man can read.
Taking them to Hangman’s Island, and releasing the Black Pearl from it’s bottle, it is a race by all three who seek control of the seas, and leads to a discovery of heritage that was unexpected tall when it came to light.
As a long movie (well 2+ hours is long these days), this takes a bit to really get into it. At least 30-45 minutes to truly get into the storyline, but once your there at that point it’s a really great movie. It’s enthralling, interesting (semi) believable and thoroughly enjoyable. The start just sucks.
