So a young boy (Walter) is dropped off at his wickedly wealthy and highly eccentric great-uncles (Garth and Hub) farm by his irresponsible mother, and initially is annoyed to having been dumped in the middle of nowhere with these two old farts. Not they they are any different being forced to deal with this young kid buggering up all their plans.
Little by little though, through the power of time and tales they begin to form a bond that is stronger than any other. Some of these are highly fanciful, but as Walter starts to get to the truth of them, he is beginning to learn all about the history of his great-uncles, and where their wealth came from. But their eccentricity comes out quite highly in the seemingly random things that they do, from buying a secondhand lion to hunt, (only to decide to keep it as a pet when it won’t get out of the crate) to buying a plane to put together because why not.
This movie stars Hayley Joel Osment (except he doesn’t see dead people in this movie), Michael Caine and Robert Duvall, and the characters of these three just seem to work very neatly with each other.
This movie is worth taking the bit of time to watch, it’s actually really quite decent.
