Tonights episode brings us the cooking of Sonya and Hadil the Jordanian born best friends from NSW, with their instant restaurant ‘Dessert Rose’. I must say that their restaurant looks pretty damned amazing.
These girls have been talking the talk, but tonight will determine if that can back it up.
Entrees: Herbed Kibbeh Nayyah with pickled radish
Mains: Chargrilled lamb with moutabal and fattoush salad
I can definitely tell I’m a bit of a foodie though, watching Hadil rub the spice mix and oil into those beautiful lamb backstraps was nearly turning me on. Til I saw her face, and that killed the moment. Can Hadil be anymore up herself? Holy shit, she must have have the biggest ego of any competitor that has ever been on My Kitchen Rules.
Arrrrggggghhhhhh. I was so hoping that Pete was going to burn them with his comment “my mother always used to tell me, that if I had nothing nice to say, to keep my mouth shut”. Ooooh, I was so hopeful. But no, flawless. And poor Manu, having to apologise to his mum, as this was slightly better than hers. Ouch.
Oh dear, Hadil’s forgotten all about the coals that she was going to use to cook the backstrap. It’s getting desperate now for them. But she manages to rescue it well, and appears to nail its cooking.
As the ladies take it out, poor Matty is absolutely drowning in drool as he looks at that meat, a full backstop per person. At least you won’t go hungry… Or will you?
Oh Manu, our you were so close to be our saving grace, but yet, you loved it. Pete as well feeling overjoyed to be sitting at their table tonight. C’mon surely we can count on the Russians to have something to complain about? Are you freaking kidding me? Absolutely nothing at all.
The dessert seems interesting though, it has so many little things to it. That is something that this show is great at, showcasing food that is different or meals you haven’t seen or even heard of before.
Oh, damn. That’s a burning berating that they have just gotten. I almost feel sorry for them. Never, ever change a working dish from how you normally do it. This gets hammered into the teams from day one. It is always where people find their downfalls. Their ego’s are going to take it hard, and hopefully it’ll bring them back down to earth a bit.
I hate how the Russians aren’t living up to the “anti-rabbit” hype. But both Sonya and Hadil, have been able to basically nail the night apart from that dessert where a poor decision nearly cost them the top spot. But 114 still gets it.
Even though I just don’t like these two, well done. Very well done.
*tips fedora… M’ladies.
