Altered Carbon – 2018

IMDB: Altered Carbon – 2018

IMDB Rating: 8.4/10

Rotten Tomatoes: 64%

I had the distinct displeasure of having to work from home yesterday, but the advantage of that is having something on the big screen to help drown out distractions  from creeping up on me (yeah, that actually works). Anyhow, after umm’ing and ahh’ing as to what to put on (I had pictured a Marvel movie marathon) but settled for the newly released Netflix series, Altered Carbon.

And I am glad that I did.

This is an insane series that takes us into an amazing world that I remember from playing the madness of the Cyberpunk role-playing game as a teenager (oh dear god how I enjoyed playing a character with cyber-psychosis), with all the mad craze, the drugs, the segmented society, the raw violence and the raw ownership the becomes expected by those who ultimately have the dollars.

This starts off simply, in being an investigation case, and then into a “Who am I?” case, before turning into something else, and that, is where this show really gets strong. The downside I found is that this last piece came on too hard and too strong and far too quickly.

It is well worth taking the time to watch this, and if you can binge it, do so.
