So being completely honest DC was taking a gamble on this movie after the lacklustre ones it had pushed out prior to this. A prime example of the (being quite simply blunt here) rubbish is the “Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice”. Needless to say, they finally got their maths right and came up with the workable equation.
It gives a brief but quite decent history of Diana’s upbringing and training on the hidden island of Themyscira, moving onto her transition into “modern society” in the UK and the war committee and then onto the war itself, to track down Ares the god of war to slay.
Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and David Thewlis play their characters very well despite the borderline ok scripting behind them, which leaves some of the conversation to feel… I don’t know, almost staged or (noticeably) rehearsed at times. Some of the CGI doesn’t look quite refined at times as well especially in the lasso combat, but that could be my eyesight.
If you have somehow managed to miss this movie, you probably need to rectify that. Go and get yourself a copy of it from wherever you can and watch it at least once.
