Let me just start by saying both how cute, and how awesome little Groot is. That opening battle is just hilarious. I cannot sit through it without grinning like an idiot at his groovy little dance moves (which are so much better than my own).
This movie takes place not too long after the first, and takes us on the journey as to who Quill’s father is, and the absolute bastard of a guy he is. There is definitely no patient and tolerant god involved in these worlds. But we find out the truth of why Yondu didn’t hand him over and chose to raise him in his “pirates”.
It does leave it neatly open to be integrated into both the Avengers: Infinity War and another movie in it’s own storyline. Like the first it has a great soundtrack that flows flawlessly with the action happening on screen.
If you saw the first and didn’t hate it, you’ll feel very much the same about this one, so get off your bum (or maybe get on it) and go watch it.
