So the son of a preacher unbeknownst to dear old daddy is a very talented but shy and nervous bus boy at a local rap club, who’s getting beat down constantly by the local rap bully.
When he submits a song into a rap contest with a picture of him and his friend, they get mixed up and when he wins, his friend gets mistaken for the entrant, leading to ongoing problems when he starts to fall for the celebrity pop star hosting the competition.
Will he overcome his nerves and put his name to his lyrics? Will he come forward sing his own words? Will he father accept him as a rapper? Will he give the bully a taste of his own words? Will he get the girl?
Are you for real? This is a Disney movie. The answer to all the above is yes. If you don’t get or feel the rhythm of hip-hop this movie isn’t for you. If nothing else the soundtrack is catchy and you’ll likely find your toes wriggling in time with the beat.
