Monsters: Dark Continent – 2014

IMDB: Monsters: Dark Continent – 2014

IMDB Rating: 4.3/10

Rotten Tomatoes: 17%

If you ever saw Monsters then you’ve seen whats effectively the prequel to this movie. If you weren’t exactly blown away by it, you probably weren’t alone. However the original did make way for movies such as Cloverfield or Skylight where the “monsters/aliens” were implied but not readily seen.

Until I saw the scores from IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes for this movie, I had hopes that it was going to be better than the original, given it was nearly 2 hours in length. I was very wrong. You feel all seven thousand, one hundred and forty of those seconds.

It doesn’t take long for it to get into the movie storyline, but then it seems to stall and takes forever to get to the end of the movie. I did enjoy the slow loss of control by Noah Frater as his grip on his sanity, culminating in the slightly unexpected murder of an innocent.

It’s an ok movie, just not great, not by a long shot. Go watch the first one instead.
