I had not intended to binge Season 1 of this show, I only had 2 episodes lined up to watch, but as it happens, that is exactly what did happen. I am so very glad that I did.
It follows the story of Detective Inspector Harry Clayton who after racking up significant debts in a dodgy Chinese casino has a one night stand with a beautiful woman who leaves him with a very unusual and very old Chinese bracelet.
A bracelet that can control luck. But for all the good luck, there is bad luck, and it will always balance itself out.
James Nesbitt manages to pull off a remarkably realistic performance as a down to earth honest(ish) cop who is trying to deal with the entire reality of having a magical bracelet, that seems to be playing up with his life and career. Even the supporting cast come across as being very believable, Sienna Guillory as Eve, Eve Best as Clayton and Steven Mackintoshas Detective Superintendent Winter who is trying to pin Harry as being a dodgy and rotten copper.
Even if you don’t binge the whole season and only watch an episode or two at a time, you’ll probably find yourself drawn into the storyline as much as I was.
